April continues to keep us on our toes — this morning might have been the first time I ever saw snow flakes on basil leaves, as I shuttled the tender harvest from the greenhouse to the Farm Store in haste.

Winter is having a last hurrah (chance of snow!?) but it still feels like summer in the greenhouses! The humid scent of green growing things, the sound of rain pattering on the plastic, and the simple satisfaction of watching crops come to fruition — there's nothing else like it.

Field production season is now underway: the farm crew is out transplanting greens and lettuces into the warming ground. With few April showers in sight, we irrigated in preparation for planting.
